Trump Slams Bob Good Ahead of GOP Primary

In the lead-up to Virginia’s GOP primary, former President Trump attacked Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) on social media on Monday.

Trump has taken issue with Good, the head of the House Freedom Caucus, for endorsing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) in the GOP presidential primary.

After DeSantis withdrew from the race earlier this year, Good changed his support to Trump, but it seems that the former president is still harboring resentment.

“Bob Good is BAD FOR VIRGINIA, AND BAD FOR THE USA! He turned his back on our incredible Movement, and was constantly attacking and fighting me until recently, when he gave a warm and “loving” Endorsement – But really, it was too late!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

“The damage had been done. I just want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and the person that can most help me do that is Navy Seal and highly respected State Legislator, John McGuire, a true American Hero. John, who fought the Cartels on the Front Line, and then came home and fought the drug dealers in Virginia, will ALWAYS PUT AMERICA FIRST….” he continued.

Good will compete against state senator John McGuire (R), who has received Trump’s endorsement, in Tuesday’s primary.

Other powerful Republicans have also endorsed McGuire, notably the Majority Committee PAC of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), a fellow member of the Freedom Caucus, likewise endorsed McGuire, an unexpected development that underscores the serious problems Good may be facing.

Nonetheless, the Virginia Republican has garnered other endorsements of his own, including those from Trump supporters Steve Bannon and Florida GOP Representatives Matt Gaetz and Byron Donalds.

The 5th District of the state covers the area from western Richmond to the border with North Carolina.

Good might become the first legislator to fall to a non-incumbent this cycle if he is defeated on Tuesday.
