The far-right radio and online video host Alex Jones’ company Free Speech Systems has filed for bankruptcy, according to a report from Yahoo News.
This follows a lengthy defamation trial surrounding statements Jones made about the shooting massacre which took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
Jones, founder of the Infowars radio show and webcast, is on trial to determine how much he must pay for spreading falsehoods about the killing of 20 children and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 14, 2012.
The families who brought suit against Jones claim that his comments about the shooting, some which include Jones calling it a ‘false flag’, have caused his listeners to harass the families of the victims.

A lawyer for Jones said he had already paid a price after being deplatformed in 2018 and losing millions of viewers. Jones has since acknowledged that the shooting took place.
Jones’ company filed for federal bankruptcy protection on Friday evening.
