New Surveys Buck Trend, Show Trump Besting DeSantis by Significant Margins

According to two new polls, former President Donald Trump leads Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in a hypothetical GOP presidential primary in 2024, breaking a run of harsh post-midterm election polling.

According one survey from Politico/Morning Consult , 45 percent of primary voters would choose to pull the lever for Trump, who has already confirmed his candidacy.

According to the same poll only 30 percent of the same group would vote for DeSantis.

DeSantis has technically not yet announced whether or not he will be running in the 2024 Republican primary.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who has yet to launch a presidential candidacy, finished third in the poll with 7%.

The latest poll comes a day after an Emerson College poll predicted that Trump would defeat DeSantis by a margin of 55 percent to 25 percent.

However, a number of recent surveys have shown DeSantis topping Trump in a potential 2024 battle. A shocking new poll in Iowa finds DeSantis leading Trump by 32 points to 30 points, a 23-point increase from June.

Several polls conducted in the aftermath of the 2022 midterm elections have shown a massive swing in support away from Trump and towards Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Many Republican critics blamed Trump for the party’s significant underperformance in the elections, which saw the party very narrowly win back control of the House of Representatives, while losing a slew of important Senate races. To add insult to injury

DeSantis, on the other hand, won his race by almost 20 points, with other Florida Republicans down ballot also benefitting from his success.
