According to a series of bombshell tweets provided by Rolling Stone contributing editor Matt Taibbi— tweets based off of internal Twitter documents released to him by now CEO Elon Musk— James Baker, the former FBI lawyer involved in authorizing the defective Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant used to eavesdrop on the Trump campaign, also helped conceal the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, published the so-called “Twitter Files” on Friday afternoon.
The files outline how and why the social media network actively suppressed a New York Post report regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2020.
According to Taibbi, the Twitter data provided on Friday showed executives directly collaborating with Biden officials to try and bury the news.
Baker, who was Twitter’s Deputy General Counsel at the time, claimed it was “logical to conclude” the files had been “hacked.”
Or course, Baker did not appear to take the same level of due diligence when approving the FISA warrant used to eavesdrop on the Trump campaign, which was based on transparently phony information.
Baker formerly served as the FBI’s general counsel and testified in 2018 that he personally examined Carter Page’s FISA application.
In August 2016, FBI investigators obtained a FISA warrant against Page.
The FBI’s lawyers rejected the plan, saying they required more evidence to back up suspicions that Page was a Russian agent before granting the warrant.
The FBI issued the order after former British spy Christopher Steele gave the FBI with six memos from the now-infamous and debunked “Steele dossier” in September 2016.
Musk has since promised that more even information from the so-called “Twitter Files” will soon be released.
