Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley reportedly went viral Thursday when she called out “sexist middle-aged CNN” anchor Don Lemon for stating she was no longer “in her prime” after announcing her candidacy for president in 2024.
In a tweet, the 51-year-old former UN Ambassador blasted Lemon for making the remark after he urged Americans to reject female leaders who are “past” their “prime.”
“To be clear, I am NOT calling for competency tests for Sexist middle-aged CNN anchors; only for people who make our laws and are 75+,”
“Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry, when a woman is in their prime [is] in [her] 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.” Lemon said during his CNN morning show on Thursday.
Lemon was later forced to issue something resembling an apology after a massive outcry.
Lemon remarked that his comments about Haley had been “inartful and irrelevant.”
Lemon later continued her attack against Lemon:
“Look, he [Lemon] made that comment, I wasn’t sitting there saying sexist, middle-aged, CNN anchors need to have mental competency tests, although he may have just proven that point.” Haley said.
