Billionaire George Soros, the Democratic Party’s top contributor, reportedly said this week at an event that he fears Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis in a presidential run in 2024.
Soros implied on Thursday at the Munich Security Conference that DeSantis was the superior politician in the expected field of 2024 Republican presidential contenders, despite the fact that DeSantis has not launched his candidacy.
Soros stated that he hopes DeSantis and Trump have a tough primary fight, that DeSantis will win, and that Trump’s ego will be so bruised by losing in the primaries that he will start a third-party campaign to prevent DeSantis from becoming president.
“My hope for 2024 is that Trump and Governor DeSantis of Florida will slug it out for the Republican nomination,. Trump has turned into a pitiful figure, continually bemoaning his loss in 2020. Big Republican donors are abandoning him in droves.” the notorious left-wing billionaire said.
“DeSantis is shrewd, ruthless, and ambitious. He is likely to be the Republican candidate. This could induce Trump, whose narcissism has turned into a disease, to run as a third-party candidate. That would lead to a Democratic landslide and force the Republican Party to reform itself. But perhaps I am maybe just a little bit biased.” he continued.
DeSantis and Soros have often clashed on a variety of hot-button issues since DeSantis was elected governor of Florida in 2018.
