Sen. Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator from South Carolina, reportedly placed a wager on Monday that former President Donald Trump will prevail in the 2024 presidential race against incumbent President Joseph Biden.
However the wager in question was almost comically small, a mere $20, potentially undermining Graham’s own claim that he is truly confident Trump will win in 2024.
Graham placed a wager of twenty dollars with the former democratic senator from Minnesota, Al Franken, that the former president would prevail in a rematch versus Vice President Joe Biden.
The wager was made by the senator on Monday evening’s episode of “The Daily Show,” which was hosted by Franken, who is also a comedian.
The show’s producers are still reportedly searching for a replacement host following Trevor Noah’s resignation.
Graham went on to criticize the prospective indictment of Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, pointing out that it will most likely be beneficial to the former president in the election of 2024.
The claims that the former president paid hush money to porn star and actress Stormy Daniels in order to hide an alleged affair between the two inspired Bragg to open an inquiry into the matter.
Graham is one of just a few Republican senators who have come out and declared their support for Trump’s candidacy for president in 2024. A fact which is itself remarkable considering Trump is a former GOP President.
