In a speech on Wednesday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak attacked radical gender ideology, asserting that men cannot turn into women and women cannot turn into men.
Sunak made the remarks at a speech to the Conservative Party Conference annual meeting in Manchester, England. Sunak has previously made similar remarks on gender.
Sunak stated that parents ought to be aware of what their children are learning in school during the same address.
“Patients should know when hospitals are talking about men or women. And we shouldn’t get bullied into believing that people can be any sex they want to be. They can’t. A man is a man and a woman is a woman — that’s just common sense.” Sunak said.
“It shouldn’t be controversial for parents to know what their children are being taught in school about relationships,” he continued.
In recent weeks, a few of Sunak’s fellow Conservative Party members have taken more open steps to oppose gender ideology.
For example, Health Secretary Steve Barclay declared that men who identified as women would not be permitted to get medical care in NHS wards that were exclusively for women.
The prime minister has previously received fire from leftist groups for similar remarks regarding biology.
