The biggest pro-Israel PAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, came under fire from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Tuesday, accusing it of being “racist” for emphasizing her voting history.
AIPAC supported a large number of Jan. 6th rebels. On the social media site X, which was once known as Twitter, she commented, “They are no friend to American democracy.”
“They are one of the more racist and bigoted PACs in Congress as well, who disproportionately target members of color.” she continued.
With three million members in each congressional district, AIPAC backs a wide range of pro-Israeli legislation.
Along with many other well-known politicians, its matching PAC supports candidates from both parties, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
A list of congressmen who opposed a resolution stating that the US supports Israel in the wake of terrorist operations carried out by Hamas, which is supported by Iran, was released by AIPAC on X on Monday. Ocasio-Cortez, Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), and Summer Lee (D-PA) were singled out for criticism, with the statement reading, “Opposed condemning Hamas.”
Following the deadly terror assaults on Israel, Ocasio-Cortez demanded that Israel and Hamas defuse their tensions and declare a cease-fire in her first remark.
