According to new documents shared with House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, as the Biden administration exerted pressure on Big Tech companies to censor Americans’ speech during the COVID vaccine deployment, YouTube complied with the White House’s censorship requests before Facebook was pressured to do the same.
In early this year, Jordan initiated the disclosure of the “Facebook Files,” which revealed that the Biden administration exerted pressure on the social media behemoth to suppress content that the White House disapproved of.
This included restricting the reach of conservative publications on the platform and increasing the prominence of legacy media outlets.
The most recent collection of emails demonstrated the close collaboration between the White House and major technology companies, as well as the companies’ preoccupation with meeting the expectations of administration officials. “In the coming weeks,” the Biden administration has established specific objectives for Facebook’s censorship of anti-vaccine content.
These objectives include targeting individuals who are resistant to official or authoritative sources of content and have a propensity to consume such material but are difficult to reach.
