Early Wednesday morning, anti-Israel graffiti was discovered by authorities adorning the steps leading to the Lincoln Memorial.
“Free Gaza,” the red-painted graffiti read atop the monument’s steps, which was complemented by additional red paint splatters.
Furthermore, vandals affixed inscriptions such as “Give land back” and “Free Palestine.”
Employees informed the news source that because the paint was water-based, they did not fear that it would taint the memorial’s steps permanently.
The steps are inaccessible to visitors, according to United States Park Police, and their disposal could take several days.
A month prior to the current incident, gates in front of the White House were vandalized by anti-Israel protesters who inscribed “Free Palestine” on a statue and left crimson handprints on the gates.
