On Wednesday, Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election.
The Arkansas Republican argued in a post to X that national security, border security, and the economy were all in a stronger position during Trump’s first term as president than they are at this time.
As of the conclusion of the previous year, Trump had an accumulation of eighteen Senate endorsements. Among his additional supporters in the upper chamber is Sens. Betty Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Eric Schmidt (R-MO), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), JD Vance (R-OH), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) are all Republicans. Ted Budd (R-NC), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), and Steve Daines (R-MT) are all Democrats. Graham, Graham, and Hagerty are all Republicans from Tennessee.
Cotton has endorsed Trump since the 2016 presidential election; however, in recent years, the senator has demonstrated a readiness to sever ties with the former president.
Trump’s candidacy for a second term as president could potentially set up a rematch with Biden in the 2020 general election, given his numerous criminal cases and ballot access concerns.
National polls currently place Trump as the unequivocal frontrunner among a sizable yet diminishing Republican field, which also includes DeSantis.
