Hunter Biden Trial Set to Begin 17 Days Before Start of Trial for Tax Charges

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is now reportedly facing a trial on three felony gun charges on June 3. This trial comes just 17 days before his already-scheduled trial for nine tax charges in California.

Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika has ruled that the trial can proceed on June 3, despite the close timing of the dates.

These trials were scheduled after a plea agreement fell through, which was originally intended to cover both the tax charges and the gun charges.

In Delaware, the younger Biden is facing three gun-related charges.

These charges include unlawfully purchasing a revolver while using illicit drugs and allegedly lying on federal forms about his drug use during the purchase of the weapon.

According to prosecutors, Biden briefly possessed the firearm in question, a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver, which he bought in October of 2018.

Biden’s legal team has submitted several motions asserting the continued validity of the plea agreement, which unraveled last summer, and its applicability to the gun charges.

Both sides are optimistic that the gun trial will conclude within a week. The prosecution is expected to present their case over the course of several days, while the defense will have two days to present their arguments.

Biden’s upcoming trial is set to commence on June 20, encompassing nine charges related to taxes.

The charges in both cases were filed by Special Counsel David Weiss, who was appointed in August of 2023 by Attorney General Merrick Garland, and tasked with supervising the investigation into Hunter Biden.
