Alina Habba, the attorney representing former President Donald Trump, took a major jab at Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, following a notable reduction in the bond amount he is required to pay as he appeals his substantial civil fraud penalty.
Habba made an appearance on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday evening.
During the interview, the host inquired about the recent court ruling that reduced Trump’s bond from $464 million to $175 million.
“We won. You know, no, we didn’t win. You know when we’ll win? When we get this all reversed, which is what’s gonna happen.” Habba said.
Habba expressed strong disapproval of James and Judge Arthur Engoron, who initially mandated Trump to pay a staggering $355 million.
“So, what happened today, was that Letitia had to eat every single tweet she has posted since the day the twisted order from Judge Engoron came out with the ridiculous number with the disgusting injustice on the American people, not just Donald Trump,” she continued.
This ruling was based on the finding that the former president had engaged in a conspiracy to deceive banks and insurers about his true net worth in order to gain advantageous treatment.
With each passing day, the debt continued to grow, accumulating an additional $112,000 in interest.
Eventually, it reached a staggering $464 million when the appeals court finally made the decision to reduce his bond.
“I hope she took a little piece of humble pie today because that’s what was served to her. Just a little, but we’ll be…serving a lot more of that in the next couple of years.” Habba concluded.
