During an interview over the weekend, Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for implying late last week that he was a bully for ridiculing childish antics that transpired in the U.S. House involving AOC and suggesting that she was a bully herself.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) engaged in a verbal altercation on the House Oversight Committee after Crockett insulted Greene’s intellect and Greene responded by insulting Crockett’s appearance. From that point on, the situation escalated rapidly, with additional members, including AOC, becoming involved.
Fetterman then took a variety of jabs at AOC over the incident.
“In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today, I’m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.” Fetterman wrote on the X social media platform.
“I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue. But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one.” AOC posted in response.
Fetterman appeared on CNN to respond to AOC’s accusation.
“Oh, well, of course, that‘s absurd. I was just simply responding to the kind of chaos and everything that Rep. Greene started as well.” he said.
“And if everyone on the committee was proud of what they‘ve produced, they are entitled to their opinion or if they feel that this is the kind of a video that you want to send to a classroom of 8th grade civics kind of students across America. That’s their choice.” he continued.
After Fetterman suffered a severe stroke in 2022 and has had persistent speech and hearing difficulties ever since.
