White House Cancels Meeting With Netanyahu After He Releases Controversial Video

PM Benjamin Netanyahu was reportedly reprimanded by the White House for accusing the US of withholding military supplies in a video that was made public on Tuesday.

In the video the Israeli leader said that it was “inconceivable that in the past few months, the administration has been withholding weapons and ammunitions to Israel.”

As a result, the White House reportedly called off a high-level meeting with Israeli officials.

Axios reports that the meeting, which was supposed to be a strategic conversation about Iran, was called off because President Joe Biden’s senior aides were offended by Netanyahu’s complaint.

According to two American and Israeli sources, President Biden’s senior advisors were infuriated by the footage, which US ambassador Amos Hochstein personally showed to Netanyahu in a meeting just hours after it was released. Subsequently, the White House took a more drastic measure and called off the meeting for Thursday.

When the decision was made, a few Israeli officials were already on their way to Washington.

Shortly after the distribution of the film, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein personally informed Netanyahu of the White House’s disapproval.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s visit is still scheduled for next week, and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will continue meet with his counterpart in Israel despite the cancelation.
