Before President Biden and the former president have a sit-down interview later on Friday, President Trump attacked ABC presenter George Stephanopoulos, calling him “the meanest and most vicious Interviewer out there”.
The former president further mentioned that former network reporter Brian Ross was fired due to false information he had revealed at the time on alleged conversations between Russian officials and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn during the 2016 election.
“The meanest and most vicious Interviewer out there is George Slopadopoulos of FAKE NEWS ABC, one of the worst and most vile Broadcasters in the business — In fact, the home of disgraced “reporter” Brian Ross whose reporting on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax was so outlandish that ABC, after defending him at levels not seen before, was forced to put him, and their reputation, out to pasture.” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The previous president and Stephanopoulos had a past together: After the ABC News anchor interviewed Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) in March, he filed a defamation complaint against the two, objecting to Stephanopoulos’s inquisitive remarks that Trump had been convicted guilty of rape in the E. Jean Carroll case.
On Friday night, Biden is scheduled to speak with Stephanopoulos in an interview intended to allay concerns about his age and mental health in the wake of his dreadful debate performance the previous week.
This will be Biden’s first interview with ABC following the debate.
