Boebert Puts Herself Forward as Potential Secretary of the Interior

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) recently stated on a radio broadcast that she would be interested in serving as the United States Secretary of the Interior under former President Trump if elected in November.

Native Voice One, a radio network that claims to deliver Native voices to the world, interviewed Boebert on the third day of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee.

Boebert strolled by the hosts of Native Voice One, which was broadcasting live from within the RNC. She was asked who she felt should be the interior secretary in the Trump administration.

The Department of the Interior oversees the administration and conservation of federal lands and natural resources.

The hosts then asked Boebert if she thought the U.S. government should relocate Bureau of Land Management offices around the country.

Boebert mentioned that in 2020, Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt under Trump relocated the BLM headquarters to Grand Junction.

The headquarters were then transferred to Washington, D.C. in 2021 by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, who served under President Joe Biden.

The entire interview with Boebert lasted about four minutes and included a query concerning the Antiquities Act, which was passed into law in 1906 to give broad legal protection for cultural and natural treasures of historic or scientific interest on federal lands.

Boebert now serves Colorado’s 3rd District in the House, although she has since relocated and is running against Trisha Calvarese for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District in the November election.

If Boebert wins the election and is named secretary of the interior or any other cabinet position, she must resign from her House seat.
