Trump Rakes Biden Over the Coals at RNC

Former President Donald Trump delivered the longest keynote speech in RNC history on the last night.

It was a combination of several speeches: sad, such as explaining in great detail the attempted assassination; serious, vowing a huge immigration crackdown; and rally address, riffing on prepared lines and cracking jokes.

Earlier speakers included former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson, Trump attorney Alina Habba, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

During his address, retired wrestler Hulk Hogan pulled off his shirt and praised Trump as a “American hero.”

Despite pledges that he would have a more modest tone than normal, Trump maintained the grandstanding presence that he has been known for since his first run in 2015, quickly veering from prepared statements sent to reporters earlier that evening.

He wasn’t supposed to mention opponent President Joe Biden by name, but he did late in his speech.

He acknowledged “the damage that Biden has done” and said that his successor was the worst president in history.

Away from Milwaukee, President Joe Biden is in Delaware suffering from “mild upper respiratory symptoms” after contracting Covid, and Senator Jon Tester of Montana became the second Democratic senator to ask for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.
