J.D. Vance Doubles Down on Controversial Comments on ‘Childless’ Women in New Megyn Kelly Interview

In a new interview with Megyn Kelly on Friday, vice presidential candidate JD Vance addressed the backlash that followed his resurfaced comments, in which he criticized “childless cat ladies” and questioned Democrats who do not have children.

On The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, Kelly included excerpts from Vance’s 2021 comments and media criticism. Vance stated that he was targeting the “childless left” during an event while he was campaigning for senator.

He would subsequently appear on Fox News with Tucker Carlson and explain his case against “childless cat ladies” on the left.

The fact that Vance named numerous “childless” Democrats, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kamala Harris, and Pete Buttigieg, led to some of the backlash to his comments.

“It’s one thing to recognize there are people who don’t want to have children through no faults or choice of their own, but it’s something else to build a political movement, invest it theoretically in the future of this country when not a single one of them has any physical commitment to the future of this country,” Vance said during his appearance on Kelly’s show.

“I know the media wants to attack me and wants me to back down on this, Megyn, but the simple point I made is that having children, becoming a father, becoming a mother, I really do think it changes your perspective in a pretty profound way. This is something of course we’ve recognized for hundreds of years in this country and in human civilization.” he continued.

Critics promptly identified one of the issues with Vance’s presentation: Harris is a stepmother, and Buttigieg would adopt a child with his partner only weeks later.

Kelly observed that the issue of declining fertility rates has been discussed by individuals on both sides of the political spectrum.

Vance condemned the contemporary Democratic Party as “anti-kid” and maintained that his intention was not to criticize individuals who do not have children.
