Conservative star Ann Coulter has now declared that she will vote for former President Trump in November, despite her belief that he is a “awful, awful person.”
This decision was based on Trump’s selection of Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running companion.
The conservative media pundit has primarily disavowed Trump and encouraged his opponents in the 2024 primary election.
However, she stated on Sunday that she will continue to cast her ballot for him in an interview with C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal.”
“Donald Trump, because if he loses he will be running again in four years, and then he will have lost four successive elections for us,” she remarked.
“Truthfully, I really like his choice of JD Vance, which I recommended back in May. Can’t trust Trump as far as I can throw him, but I do trust JD Vance to care about the left behind people.” she continued.
Coulter previously wrote a book in 2016 that was pro-Trump, entitled “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!”
However, she stated on Sunday that she now believes that the former president has departed significantly from the principles that were praised in that book.
“I wish Republican politicians would read it. I gave a copy to some of my favorite Republicans. I do think the 2016 Trump campaign, it was one of the greatest campaigns in world history – in part because it really changed the Republican Party to a party I preferred.” Coulter said.
“So I loved Trump coming out and saying, ‘Oh, I’m rich and going to fix the country. But the main reason, and if you read the book, by the way, I make it very clear that personally, Trump is an awful, awful person. We are making an exception this one time because we need a wall on the border.” she concluded.
