Earlier this week, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a daring raid in Syria that resulted in the destruction of a sophisticated underground missile factory constructed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The factory was being used to supply Hezbollah, Iran’s top terror proxy group, with countless precision medium-range missiles.
The Israeli Air Force’s (IAF) elite Shaldag unit conducted the highly unusual raid, according to Axios. This is the first documented ground operation that Israel has conducted on Syrian soil in years.
The report stated that the facility’s devastation was a substantial setback to Iran and Hezbollah’s endeavors to manufacture missiles suitable for attacks on Israel.
The assault occurred in the western region of Syria, near the border with Lebanon, during which the Israeli Air Force (IAF) conducted a vigorous bombing campaign to prevent the Syrian military from sending reinforcements to respond to Israel’s operation at the factory.
The report stated that Israel informed the United States of the raid in advance and received no opposition to the operation’s commencement.
The Israeli commandos’ surprise assault caught the Syrian guards who were guarding the terrorist manufacturing facility off guard, resulting in their deaths.
According to reports, the facility, which was constructed within a mountain, was under the surveillance of Israeli intelligence services for a period of five years.
Israel had previously contemplated conducting an operation to demolish the site; however, it determined that the endeavor was too “high-risk.”
The assault may serve as a premonition of Israel’s potential response to Iran’s nuclear facilities as the country approaches the acquisition of nuclear weapons.
