Federal agents reportedly informed former President Donald Trump that they were unable to guarantee his safety on wide-open golf courses in Florida going forward after an assailant was caught after allegedly intended to fire on him while he was playing golf last month.
On Friday, Dasha Burns, Julia Ainsley, and Dareh Gregorian of NBC News reported that sources close to Trump and his campaign verified that Trump would not golf until after the election, citing safety concerns.
Trump was informed that federal agents were unable to guarantee his safety to the extent that they were satisfied with if he were to participate.
The concerns were discussed with Trump in two separate conversations since the September incident: one with Ronald Rowe, the interim director of the Secret Service, and the other with officials from the national intelligence director’s office.
The report stated that Trump had expressed an enthusiasm to continue golfing while also being concerned about his safety on the golf course during the campaign.
After Trump assumed the presidency, the Secret Service conveyed apprehensions regarding his safety on golf courses.
