Trump And Harris Tie In New Hampshire Town’s Famous Early Vote

Results from Dixville Notch, New Hampshire’s famous early 2024 election are in, revealing a tie between ex-President Donald Trump and Vice-President Kamala Harris.

The count, announced by officials around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, showed three votes apiece for Trump and Harris.

Dixville Notch, a secluded township in New Hampshire’s North Country, has garnered significant national attention for its tradition of midnight voting, which began in 1960.

This year’s outcome was positive for Trump, a marked improvement from his 2016 and 2020 performances.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton received four votes, while Trump only snagged two, alongside one vote each for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and a Mitt Romney write-in.

In 2020, Trump lost all five votes to President Joe Biden, which hadn’t been seen since since former President Richard Nixon’s 1960 9-0 sweep in the township, before ultimately losing to President John F. Kennedy Jr.

Elsewhere in New Hampshire, the Libertarian Party voiced their support for Trump ahead of the election.

“Donald Trump is officially endorsed by the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire for President,” the surprising endorsement began.

“This was not a light decision. But we feel it is the right one for ourselves, for our children, and for the best future of a Free State of New Hampshire. Donald Trump is not a libertarian. Nonetheless, Trump is the best candidate for libertarians.”

The party listed off eight reasons they favored Trump, including that he started no new wars during his presidency and “pledged to end the importation of anti-liberty migrants.”

“Trump promises much and we are skeptical of promises from politicians,” the statement continued. “However, we know for certain what the Democrat alternative is: more socialism, more censorship, more taxes, more authoritarianism.”

They urged Libertarians to ignore the party’s presidential candidate because “he cannot win,” before making a final plea:

“The barbarians are at the gates. We must make sure that New Hampshire continues to repel progressives, socialists, communists, and leftists of all stripes,” the party wrote.

“New Hampshire being the only red state in a blue New England helps achieve that goal. For these reasons and more, the most popular Libertarian state affiliate in the country is endorsing Donald Trump for President. Now get out there and vote!”
