New Senate Majority Leader Thune Claims all Trump Nominees Will Be Given a Fair Hearing

During an interview on Thursday, Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who will reportedly assume the role of Senate Majority Leader in January, stated that the U.S. Senate will conduct impartial hearings for all of President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees.

Thune made the remarks during a Fox News interview with Bret Baier.

“The American people want change in this country. They’re tired of the Biden-Harris-Schumer agenda, and they want President Trump to fix some things. And he wants to get a team in place that can do that, and we’re going to work with him to see that he gets his team installed as quickly as possible so he can implement his agenda.” Thune remarked.

Additionally, he acknowledged that recess appointments are feasible; however, in order to achieve this outcome, Republicans would be required to vote unanimously to enter recess.

This implies that if certain Republicans disagreed with a particular nominee, they could vote against entering recess, at which point recess appointments would be rendered impractical.

Thune stated that Senate Republicans would exploit the manner in which Democrats weaponized the budget reconciliation process during the Biden administration to enact unpopular legislation with a mere 51-vote majority.

He stated that the Senate was concentrated on the following: repairing the border, bolstering the economy, increasing the military, reducing regulations and taxation, and securing energy.
