Karoline Leavitt, the chief spokesperson for President-elect Trump’s 2024 campaign, has now reportedly been appointed as his White House press secretary upon his inauguration in January.
Leavitt, 27, was previously employed as the assistant press secretary in the Trump White House under Kayleigh McEnany, who is currently a prominent presenter on Fox News.
Leavitt will be the youngest individual to hold the position of White House chief press officer since Ron Ziegler in the 1970s, during the administration of former President Nixon. At the time of his appointment, Ziegler was 29 years old.
Before joining Trump’s 2024 campaign, Leavitt served as a senior advisor to Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), whom Trump appointed this week as his ambassador to the United Nations.
Leavitt also won a contested GOP primary, but her campaign for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st District was unsuccessful.
She was widely considered the frontrunner for the position as media and political circles speculated about Trump’s choice for his chief spokesperson in The White House.
