Trey Gowdy Encourages Republicans to Reject Trump’s Pick of Gaetz for AG

In response to President-elect Donald Trump’s “absurd” selection of Attorney General Matt Gaetz, Fox News anchor Trey Gowdy reportedly issued a severe warning to Republicans in Congress.

Gaetz has been the subject of intense scrutiny in the wake of recent allegations that he engaged in a sexual encounter with an underage girl and paid for the experience.

These allegations were purportedly detailed in a House Ethics investigation that has yet to be disclosed, but they are expected to be disclosed either through a leak or during a confirmation hearing.

Bill Hemmer initiated the discussion by referencing the consistent warnings of “lawfare” issued by Trump and his allies during the 2024 campaign.

“I don’t know how you felt about the documents case in Florida or the Jack Smith thing in Washington, D.C. Coming after January 6th, but when you look at all of them and think that there is a possibility they could all be now dissolved, zero for four. You are a man of the law. That is your profession. What do you think of how this went?” Hemmer said.

“Do not use the justice system as a weapon,” Gowdy said.

“The message for Republicans is don’t do it on the other side, either, with this absurd AG Pick that you just made. Justice is different. It is a combination of policy, law and also morality. You do not use our justice system as a political weapon. Voters rejected it in November and will reject it if Republicans try to do it. Some things rise above the din. The justice system is one of those things.” he added.
