James Carville, a strategist for the Democratic Party, has reportedly maintained his criticism of the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, this time suggesting that the large spending will have massive repercussions for the party in the future.
After Harris’s election loss to Donald Trump, who is now the president-elect, opponents have focused their attention on the amount of money that her campaign reportedly spent, which is $1.5 billion.
As the party strives to provide an explanation for the expensive campaign, Carville predicted that in the future, there will be more stringent campaign audits and difficulties in fundraising.
This prediction was made on the Politics War Room podcast this week.
“The resistance is going to have trouble raising money. These fundraisers are burnt. They’re really pissed now.” Carville said.
Carville went on to say that the “damage” that the Democratic “brand” has sustained over the presidential campaign of 2024 and over the course of the previous decade is “almost unfathomable.”
Additionally, the longtime political strategist went into further detail regarding the campaign’s expenditures and stated that he has received information from individuals working for the Democratic National Committee that there will be significantly more stringent “audits” on campaign expenditures coming ahead.
Carville stated that he has also been invited to run for the position of head of the Democratic National Committee, which is a position that he is not interested in running for.
Carville inquired into the whereabouts of all of this money and also stated that lobbyists were excessively controlling of Harris’s campaign in order to take advantage of the rapid infusion of resources that the campaign received.
“I promise you this: the amount of money and the amount of lobbyists that were involved in this campaign is staggering,” Carville said.
