James Carville, a strategist for the Democratic Party, reportedly referred to Vice President Joe Biden as the “most tragic figure in modern American politics.”
He was critical of the president’s choice to withdraw from the contest for the presidency so close to the day of the election.
The record dropout was the reason that Carville blamed for the loss of Vice President Harris.
“The different scenario would be, if he would have — in September of 2023 or August — said that he wasn’t going to run. Goddamn, we would have won this election,” Carville said during a new episode of his popular podcast “Politics War Room.”
“And it wouldn’t have been that close, because we would have had so many frickin’ talented people that were running, and he would be sitting here right now getting ready to leave on a high note. They would be naming commissions to figure out what are we going to name after him.” he added.
In addition, he stated that Biden is aware that he has made a mistake and that he would have been “the toast of Washington” if he had made a different decision.
“I actually feel for Biden, and he knows that he fucked up. He wasn’t crooked, he didn’t pursue bad policies, he is the most tolerant, loving, caring, non-prejudiced person you can imagine, and this is what he’s faced with.” he said.
Despite the fact that he stated that he had become “the person [he’s] always hated” as a result of his participation in leading the movement for the incumbent president to step down during the election, the strategist was viewed as a prominent voice in pushing for the shakeup at the top of the Democratic presidential ticket.
Additionally, Carville had previously criticized Harris’s campaign for the way in which they spent their money and stated that the campaign struggled to find inspiration.
