Lara Trump is now resigning from her position as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), which has sparked speculation regarding her political future in the wake of her father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump’s, return to the White House.
One of her potential next steps is to enter the race for the Senate seat in Florida that is currently held by Marco Rubio, which is set to become vacant shortly.
Rubio was selected by Trump as his Secretary of State.
Lara Trump acknowledged that she is currently considering her options during an interview with the Associated Press.
“It is something I would seriously consider. If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.” she stated.
Lara Trump announced on Sunday that her role at the RNC was “now complete” on X.
Serving as the @GOP co-chair throughout the course of the most consequential election in American history has truly been the honor of my life.
At the RNC, we had three distinct goals:
1) surpass all fundraising records
2) build the largest army of lawyers and poll watchers… pic.twitter.com/bcHdDHhwQq

If Rubio is confirmed to the Cabinet, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will have the legal authority to appoint his successor.
The individual who assumes the position will serve the remaining portion of Rubio’s term, which concludes in 2026.
The potential appointee, Lara Trump, is already gathering momentum in Republican circles due to her significant involvement in Republican campaigns and her close relationship with the Trump political brand.
Lara Trump played a critical role in the Republican Party’s successful retake of the Senate and the White House in March, while simultaneously ensuring that their narrow majority in the House was maintained.
Her political status has experienced a significant increase, rendering her future actions a potential indicator of the Republican Party’s trajectory.
Some high-profile supporters, such as Maye Musk, the mother of billionaire Trump ally Elon Musk, have expressed enthusiasm for the concept of a Trump family member serving in the Senate.
Musk expressed her endorsement of Lara Trump’s prospective candidacy on social media.
