According to new reports, President Joe Biden is now attempting to remove from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) in the United States one of the Islamic terrorist groups that were responsible for the overthrow of the Syrian government last week.
After the overthrow of Syrian tyrant Bashar al-Assad, Biden is now considering removing Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from the list.
HTS is a brutal islamic terrorist organization that originated from Al-Qaeda and continues to have close ties to the terrorist organization.
NBC News was informed by a number of current and former officials in the Biden administration that Biden was planning to assist the terrorist organization “soon” by eliminating the classification.
This would make it possible for the terrorist organization to get assistance from governments in other countries.
In addition to this, Biden would eliminate the ten million dollar bounty that was placed on the head of Abu Muhammad Jawlani, the leader of the terrorist group.
During an interview that took place over the weekend, retired General Frank McKenzie, who had previously served as the chief of Central Command, stated that Jawlani has a significant track record of activities related to terrorism, and that the idea that terrorists may change is absurd.
In spite of the fact that the fall of the Syrian government was a source of distress for Assad, Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah in Lebanon, McKenzie cautioned that it did not indicate any positive developments for the Syrian people.
“I’m not sure it’s ultimately going to be good news for the people of Syria. You know, we could have an Islamic State arise there, which will have profound negative implications across the region. That is possible. There are other possibilities as well, and I think in the next 48, 72, 96 hours, this will begin to become clearer to us.” he said.
