Fox News’ ‘The Five’ Receives More Than Ten Times the Viewership of CNN Since Election

The Five, the longest-running top-rated program on cable news, has now reportedly experienced a significant increase in viewership since Donald Trump’s election in early November.

Since November 4th, Fox News’ political panel program has maintained an impressive 23-day streak of over 4 million viewers, surpassing CNN’s prime time average viewership by more than 10 million.

In October, the show averaged 3.6 million total viewers. The Five attracted a staggering 7.15 million total viewers and 1.16 million viewers in the critical 25-54 age demographic on election day.

Since its inception in 2011, The Five has been a consistent presence on Fox News, co-hosted by some of the most popular on-air personalities, including Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, and Jeanine Pirro.

It is also one of the last programs in the industry to engage in contentious debates on the current issues, with its liberal co-hosts, Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford, Jr, being pitted against conservatives.

The Five has experienced a significant increase in ratings, while Fox’s competition has continued to experience a decline in viewership.

CNN has averaged only 405,000 total viewers in prime time since the election.

CNN has experienced a 45% decrease in prime time viewership since the election, but it has also lost more than half of its demo viewers, with an average of 77,000 viewers in the prime time demo.

In contrast, MSNBC’s prime time average of 57,000 viewers represents a 61% decrease in the demo since the election.

MSNBC achieved an average of 620,000 prime time viewers, which represents a 54% decrease in total viewers.

In October, CNN garnered an average of 830,000 total viewers and 175,000 demo viewers, while MSNBC attracted 1.39 million total viewers and 160,000 demo viewers during prime time.

Fox News has increased its proportion of total cable news viewers as a result of CNN and MSNBC’s declining ratings.

According to Nielsen Media Research, the dominant network currently commands 72% of prime time cable news viewers and 71% of viewers in the demo.

Fox has averaged 2.7 million prime time viewers and 331,000 in the demo since the election.

Furthermore, Fox News has achieved the highest ratings among the top 284 cable news telecasts since the election, whereas CNN and MSNBC have yet to achieve a one-hour audience of two million.

The news comes in wake of reports that MSNBC’s parent company is now planning on spinning off the liberal network.
