House Committee Votes to Release Ethics Report on Matt Gaetz

According to a new report, the House Ethics Committee has now secretly voted to disclose the highly anticipated investigatory report on former US Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

Gaetz was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the next attorney general before withdrawing from the process.

He also resigned from Congress prior to abandoning his candidacy.

The nomination was met with controversy due to the fact that his résumé was exceedingly scant for the position and he had previously strained relationships with his Republican congressional colleagues.

However, it was Gaetz’s purported involvement in allegations of unlawful drug use, bribery, and the sexual trafficking of a 17-year-old girl, that generated the most controversy regarding his nomination.

The allegations were the subject of an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, and rumors regarding the potentially damaging contents of the committee’s report have been circulating for months.

The situation was apparently too chaotic for both the Senators who opposed his nomination and the president-elect despite the fact that Gaetz has denied all wrongdoing and has not been charged with any offenses thus far.

The dissemination of a report regarding a former member of Congress, that is opposed by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), would be an unusual course of action.

The committee has now reportedly officially voted to release the contents of the report.

Treene, in conjunction with CNN News Central’s chief congressional correspondent Manu Raju, disclosed the information on Wednesday.

During the November elections, Gaetz was re-elected to his seat. However, he declared his intention to not return to Congress in January, thereby creating a vacant seat. A special election has now been scheduled for April 1, 2025 to fill the seat.

In terms of Gaetz’s future plans, it was reported earlier this month that he was anticipated to become an anchor for the pro-Trump cable network One America News Network.

Gaetz was replaced by Pam Bondi, the former Attorney General of Florida, who was nominated by Trump to serve as the Department of Justice’s chief.
