Senator Rand Paul reportedly proposed an unconventional solution amid the imminent chaos of a failed spending measure intended to prevent a government shutdown: designate the world’s wealthiest individual as the Speaker of the House.
Senator Paul proposed that Elon Musk replace Rep. Mike Johnson as the leader of the House and second in line to become president in a Thursday morning message on X, the social media platform owned by the aforementioned “world’s richest man.”
“The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress . . .  Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk . . . think about it .  . . nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds)” Paul wrote on his X account.

Johnson, in collaboration with Senator John Thune, introduced a spending measure late Tuesday night. Subsequently, he appeared on Fox News to defend it. The bill’s wasteful spending was denounced by Musk, who is currently advising President-elect Donald Trump on government efficiency and directing “DOGE.”
