According to a new report Neil Cavuto will be ending his long run as the host of ‘Your World’ on Thursday afternoon, following his 28-year tenure at Fox News.
The anchor’s contract expires at the end of the month, and Thursday will be his final day on the air.
Cavuto is one of the few on-air personalities who has remained with the network since its inception in the late 1990s. Cavuto’s departure from Fox is not the result of any animosity but rather because he was simply presented with a new contract, but he declined to accept it.
Fox desired that he remain on the team; however, a source disclosed that he ultimately elected to depart.
The cable news industry has experienced a season of cost-cutting, which has led to the departure of numerous prominent journalists who have chosen to leave their networks rather than accept a reduced salary.
Cavuto’s departure is not related to Trump, according to a source, despite his disagreements with the president. His show would have been terminated years ago, if his occasional criticism of Trump had been an issue, and certainly prior to the election.
Cavuto has been candid about his decades-long struggle with multiple sclerosis in his nonpolitical life.
Cavuto was born in Westbury, New York, on September 22, 1958, and spent his childhood in Danbury, Connecticut.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from St. Bonaventure University and subsequently pursued a master’s degree at American University.
Cavuto’s journalistic career commenced at the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and CNBC, where he reported on business and financial news.
He gained widespread recognition as the host of CNBC’s Power Lunch.
In 1996, he became the managing editor and anchor of Your World with Neil Cavuto, Fox News’ premier business program, after joining the newly launched Fox News Channel.
He subsequently expanded his responsibilities at Fox Business Network, where he serves as the anchor of Cavuto: Coast to Coast.
Cavuto has established a reputation for his insightful reporting on political events, economic policy, and financial markets over the years.
According to a source, Fox News and Fox Business will introduce new programming in the upcoming year to replace Cavuto’s show. Until a new program is introduced, a rotating ensemble of anchors will serve as the hosts of Your World.
