Axios has now reported that over 24 million people tuned in for each of the National Football League’s Christmas Day games that were broadcast on Netflix, setting a new record for the most streamed games in the history of the NFL.
There were an average of 24.3 million people watching the game between the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens that took place later in the day on Wednesday.
According to Nielsen numbers that date back to 2001, the game between the Texans and the Ravens was the most watched Christmas Day game for the population of 18-34 year olds, which is a highly desirable demographic.
The number of people who watched the game reached its highest point of 27 million when Beyonce performed during the halftime break.
In comparison to the 2023 AFC wild card contest between the Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, which was shown on Peacock, both of the games that took place on Christmas Day attracted a greater number of viewers.
There were around 65 million people that watched both of the National Football League’s Christmas Day games, in addition to the pre-game events and Beyonce’s halftime performance.
A month after the streaming giant was lambasted during the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, when many viewers complained about the feed stopping and buffering, Netflix was able to successfully stream the National Football League (NFL).
Despite the fact that the National Basketball Association (NBA) had an increase in viewership on Wednesday, the numbers were not even close to being comparable to those of the National Football League (NFL).
The National Basketball Association (NBA), which broadcast its games on ABC and ESPN, had an average of approximately 5 million viewers for its five-game schedule on Christmas Day.
Compared to the previous year, the number of people watching the NBA games that took place on Christmas Day increased by 84%.
