Several appointments for the Treasury Department and selections for ambassadors to two European countries were reportedly announced by President-elect Trump.
In numerous Thursday Truth Social postings, Trump specified the individuals who will collaborate with his Treasury chief, Scott Bessent, as well as his selections for ambassadors to the Netherlands and Spain.
Ken Kies was selected by Trump to serve as the assistant secretary of tax policy. Kies, a tax litigator with nearly five decades of experience, was the chief of staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation in Congress.
Hunter McMaster was chosen as the director of policy planning.
Daniel Katz, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think organization, was appointed by Trump as the department’s chief of staff. Katz was previously employed as a senior adviser at the Department of the Treasury.
Samantha Schwab, who was the White House Office of Legislative Affairs director during Trump’s first term, and Cora Alvi, who served as the national deputy finance director for his presidential campaign, will be Katz’s deputies.
Schwab is the granddaughter of Charles Schwab, the billionaire proprietor of The Charles Schwab Corporation, a brokerage firm.
According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, Schwab, the financial executive, contributed to a diverse array of Republican candidates and PACs during the 2024 election cycle.
Benjamin Leon Jr., a Cuban-American industrialist who achieved prominence in the health care and wellness sector, was named by President Trump as his nominee for ambassador to Spain on Thursday.
According to FEC reports, Leon contributed a minimum of $2 million to the Trump 47 Committee and Make America Great Again Inc., a super PAC that is affiliated with the president-elect, during the 2024 election cycle.
Trump has appointed Joe Popolo Jr. as the next U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands. He serves as the CEO and proprietor of Charles & Potomac Capital LLC, a Dallas-based private investment firm.
