Trump Praises Fetterman After Meeting in Mar-A-Lago

President-elect Donald Trump praised Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) during a recent interview, describing him as a “fascinating man” and expressing that he “couldn’t be more impressed” by him.

CBS News reported late last week that Fetterman was poised to be the inaugural Democratic senator to confer with Trump following his victory in November’s presidential election.

“I think that one, he’s the president, or he will be officially…and I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it. And no one is my gatekeeper,” Fetterman said when discussing his decision to meet with Trump.

Subsequent to their dialogue, Trump extolled Fetterman in a discussion with Salena Zito of the Washington Examiner.

“It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely. They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed.” Trump stated.

“He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful. He really was impressive, and I’m glad I got to speak to him. And he loves Pennsylvania, and he loves our country.” he added.

Fetterman secured victory in the 2022 Democratic primary as the progressive candidate opposing Conor Lamb, although has yet garnered attention in Congress by diverging from the left wing of his party on matters such as immigration and Israel.

“I’m not rooting against him [Trump]. If you’re rooting against the president, you are rooting against the nation. And I’m not ever going to be where I want a president to fail. So, country first. I know that’s like it’s become a bit like a cliche, but it happens to be truth,” Fetterman concluded during a recent interview.
