The senior data analyst for CNN, Harry Enten, reportedly revealed the harsh reality of the polling situation that President Joe Biden is currently facing.
According to Enten, Biden’s approval ratings are “historically low” in comparison to those of previous presidents who have left office, including President-elect Donald Trump at the end of his first term.
“Biden came in to end the Donald Trump reign in this country, and all that’s ended up happening is that Joe Biden has managed to end up at a lower approval rating at the end of his first term than any president on record.” Enten said.
Biden’s 38% is actually lower than Trump’s at the conclusion of his first term, according to an average of polls on other presidents who either lost their reelection bids or did not compete for reelection.
Enten reviewed polling that questioned Americans whether they considered a retiring president had been “good or great.”
This contrast is considerably more damaging than the last one.
At the time of his departure from office in 2017, former President Barack Obama received a favorable rating from 52 percent of respondents, while in 2021, Trump received a good rating from 36 percent of respondents.
However, Biden is in a much more precarious situation than the other candidates.
“Look at how low Joe Biden is. My goodness, gracious. You can’t really get lower than 25%… because the bottom line is there’s going to be a bunch of Democrats who would say that Biden was a good or great president, no matter what he did, but yet it’s only a quarter of the country who believes that.” Enten concluded.
