Trump Nominates Agent Who Helped Save His Life During Assassination Attempt to Lead Secret Service

The chief of the security detail that President Donald Trump maintains for his personal security service has now been formally presented as a candidate for the position of director of the agency going forward.

Sean Curran, who stepped in to save Trump during the assassination attempt that took place in July, was the candidate that Trump put forward for the position in a post that was published on Wednesday evening.

“It is my great honor to appoint Sean Curran as the next Director of the United States Secret Service. Sean is a Great Patriot, who has protected my family over the past few years, and that is why I trust him to lead the Brave Men and Women of the United States Secret Service.” Trump remarked in a statement.

“Sean has distinguished himself as a brilliant leader, who is capable of directing and leading operational security plans for some of the most complex Special Security Events in the History of our Country, and the World. He proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin’s bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania. I have complete and total confidence in Sean to make the United States Secret Service stronger than ever before.” he added.

In his remarks, Trump emphasized Curran’s more than twenty years of expertise in law enforcement, including his beginnings as a Special Agent in the Newark Secret Service Field Office in 2001, where he was responsible for a wide variety of significant operations for the organization.
