President Donald Trump attributed a significant amount of responsibility for Ukraine’s current conflict with Russia to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a ‘Special Military Operation’ in Ukraine, a campaign that persists to the present.
During the administration of former President Joe Biden, the United States provided billions in assistance and armaments to enhance Ukraine’s substantial military might.
During the campaign, Trump criticized the help that some House Republicans have strongly opposed.
Vice President JD Vance, during his tenure as a senator, stated last year that obstructing additional help to the exceedingly corrupt nation was his second most significant objective.
In an interview with Sean Hannity that aired on Fox News on Wednesday and Thursday, Trump asserted that the war would not have commenced had he been president.
“Putin shouldn’t have done it. He shouldn’t have done it and it has to stop. You know, they’ve lost about 850,000 Russian soldiers and 700,000 Ukrainian soldiers.” Trump said.
“Will it be a negotiated settlement and will you lead the negotiations?” Hannity inquired.
“Well, I hope so,” Trump concluded.
“And Zelensky, I will say he wants to settle now. He’s had enough. He shouldn’t have allowed this to happen either. You know, he’s no angel. He shouldn’t have allowed this war to happen. First of all, he’s fighting a much bigger entity, ok? Much bigger.” Trump then added.
Since taking office Trump has instructed his main envoy to negotiate an end to the war within 100 days.
