A lawsuit that was filed by President Donald Trump has been settled, and Meta and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, have reached an agreement that the business will pay $25 million to settle the dispute.
As a result of the social media platform suspending his account following the riot that occurred in the Capitol on January 6, 2021, which he incited with false allegations of electoral fraud in the 2020 election, President Trump filed a lawsuit against the parent company of Facebook.
According to a report that was published on Wednesday, the compensation will be used to support the construction of a presidential library belonging to Donald Trump.
A total of three million dollars will be allocated to cover Trump’s legal expenses.
In the course of his campaign for the presidency in 2024, Donald Trump railed against Mark Zuckerberg and even threatened to put him behind bars.
As soon as Trump was elected president in November, Zuckerberg made many trips to Mar-a-Lago property. Trump brought up the case over a meal that took place during that month.
“We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform back in August.
A individual who was aware with the conversation stated that the lawsuit needed to be settled in order for Zuckerberg to be “brought into the tent.”
Following a payment of one million dollars that Zuckerberg contributed to Trump’s inauguration fund in December, the settlement has brought about the situation.
The most recent company to pay Trump millions of dollars is Meta. A defamation case that was filed by the president was settled by ABC News for the sum of fifteen million dollars last month. The president is also now engaged in a legal dispute with CBS News over a similar matter.
