Texas Lawmaker Demands Deportation of Illhan Omar

Representative Brandon Gill, a Republican from Texas, has now reportedly advocated for the return of Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, to Somalia, the country in where she was born.

Gill, a politician who is serving his first term and represents the 26th Congressional District in Texas, was replying to a video clip that was shared by another user on X on Tuesday.

“America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia” he wrote on X.

The video was of a recent interview that the Minnesota Democrat had with a reporter.

Omar arrived in the United States as a refugee in the year 1995, and he became a naturalized citizen in the year 2000, when he was 17 years old.

Omar, the first Somali American to be elected to Congress, provided a video in which he discussed the actions that Somalis who are either illegal or whose documentation may have expired should take in the event that they are questioned by officers from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE organization).

“You are not obligated to answer their questions. Just state that your are advised by a lawyer not to answer questions. Disclosure of your name, immigration status, and the mode of entry is not mandatory. Learn the laws and prepare yourself and refrain from disclosing information that you prefer them not to know.” Omar said.

Last year, Omar was subjected to calls for her deportation when a footage of her speech in Somalia that had been translated provoked a significant amount of criticism on the right.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, made a motion to censure Omar at the time.

Omar has long been one of the most openly anti-Trump and anti-semitic members of congress, positions which she has been repeatedly criticized for.
