Thomas Ravenel, host of the reality television show “Southern Charm” on Bravo and a former state treasurer, has now reportedly announced his intention to run for governor of South Carolina in the year 2026.
After being suspected of purchasing cocaine in a federal indictment, Ravenel resigned from his position as state treasurer in 2007.
He had served in that capacity in 2007. After entering a guilty plea to the charges, he was given a term of ten months in jail prison.
His first effort at running for Senate was in 2004, and his second attempt was in 2014, when he attempted to challenge Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) with an independent bid. Both of these attempts were unsuccessful.
This time around, he is trying to succeed the term-limited South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R) by concentrating his campaign on two issues: the education system in the state and the creation of jobs.
“Southern Charm” was a reality television series that tracked the dating scene in Charleston, and Ravenel was a participating cast member on the show.
The show severed its ties with the previous treasurer of the state in the year 2018. In the beginning of that year, he was taken into custody on the basis of charges that he had sexually raped his Nanny.

In 2019, Ravenel entered a guilty plea to charges of assault and battery in the third degree.
In addition to enhancing education from kindergarten through high school, Ravanel has stated that he intends to make South Carolina a more competitive environment in which to generate employment opportunities and to attract investment capital into the state if he is victorious in the election for governor.
Despite the fact that the files for a run for governor are not open until the next year, some lawmakers in South Carolina have already declared their interest in running for the highest office in the state.
