The results of a new poll conducted by CBS News revealed that despite the fact that Americans continue to be divided against President Donald Trump, he had the greatest approval rating of either of his tenure in office this past week.
After three weeks in office, a poll that was performed by CBS News and YouGov and released on Sunday revealed that 53 percent of Americans were satisfied with the job performance of President Trump.
The poll was conducted from February 5 to February 7. Forty-seven percent of individuals who responded to the survey expressed their disagreement with the statement.
Margaret Brennan, the anchor of Face the Nation, made the observation on Sunday morning that the survey was positive for Trump since it showed that he was in the wrong with the majority of Americans during his first year in office.
Anthony Salvanto, director of elections and surveys for CBS News, stated that a significant majority of respondents believed that President Trump was honoring his pledges, regardless of whether or not they approved of those promises.
Furthermore, Salvanto observed that the majority of Americans, which accounted for 63 percent, regarded Trump as “energetic.”
“He’s doing in the eyes of the public what he said he would do in the campaign. There’s political value in that. In fact, 70% of people say he’s doing what he promised. That’s whether they approve of him or not. Now, there’s another part of this that continues over from the campaign. There were words that he was described as being tough, being energetic, and he still is today in big majority numbers. So as people take a look in these first few weeks, there’s been a lot of activity. They’re getting that general sense of governance. And that’s being reflected in these early numbers.” he noted.
A total of 69% of respondents referred to Trump as “tough.”
CBS News and YouGov conducted a survey of 2,175 adults in the United States, and the margin of error was reported to be +/- 2.5 points.
