Defense Secretary Hegseth Restores Name of Legendary ‘Fort Bragg’ Military Base

Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, reportedly issued a memorandum on Monday to rename the legendary military installation located in North Carolina as ‘Fort Bragg.’

This will allow the base to return to its previously known name.

Braxton Bragg, a Confederate general, was honored with the naming of the enormous United States Army facility, which opened its doors in 1918.

In 2022, in response to a mandate from Lloyd Austin, who had previously served as the chief of the Pentagon, the name of the base was altered to the more politically correct ‘Fort Liberty.’

During his campaign, President Donald Trump made a commitment to revert the name of the installation to more accurately reflect its historical designation.

Hegseth made the announcement that the adjustment had been implemented on Monday evening. “Bragg is back!” the former host of Fox News said along with the signature of a document.

“There it is! Pursuant to the authority of the secretary of defense, title 10 United States Code section 113, I direct the Army to change the name of Fort Liberty, North Carolina to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. That’s right, Bragg is back.” Hegseth remarked.

In spite of the fact that Hegseth had renewed the name of the base, he failed to mention in the video that he posted on social media that there was a twist: the base is going to be named after a different Bragg.

After posting his video, Hegseth uploaded a picture of the memorandum, which indicated that Fort Bragg will be named after a World War II hero named Roland Bragg.

The document was posted just a few moments after the video was uploaded.
