State of Louisiana Moves to No Longer Promote Mass Vaccination of Citizens

This past week, the Louisiana Department of Health reportedly made the surprisingly announcement that it will no longer be promoting mass vaccinations in the state.

The department stated that this decision was essential in order to “rebuild trust.”

In a letter that was distributed on Thursday, the Surgeon General of Louisiana, Ralph Abraham, and the Deputy Surgeon General, Wyche Coleman, highlighted the encouragement of vaccination usage as one of numerous “COVID missteps” that require the restoration of public trust.

“There are some appropriate examples of government recommendations, such as encouraging routine screenings like colonoscopies or Pap smears and facilitating access, especially for the poor,” the letter read.

“But promotion of specific pharmaceutical products rises to a different level, especially when the manufacturer is exempt from liability for harms caused by the drug, as is the case for many vaccines.” it added.

Vaccinations against measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough are among the vaccinations that are required for children to receive in order for them to be able to attend schools and day cares located in the state of Louisiana due to the law.

The letter was sent out on the same day that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a strong advocate against vaccinations, was confirmed to serve as the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
