President Donald Trump has now emphasized the urgency of finalizing a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, reportedly now stating that the deal must materialize soon or not at all.
During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump highlighted the significant progress made toward ending the conflict.
Trump noted that both his administration and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have been in frequent communication with NATO’s Secretary General, working diligently to bring the war to a close.
He expressed optimism about the rapid advancements, acknowledging the efforts of all parties involved.
“President Zelensky and my team also spoke with the Secretary General of NATO on numerous occasions, and we’re working very hard to get that war brought to an end. I think we’ve made a lot of progress, and I think it’s moving along pretty rapidly. And I want to thank all of the people that are here that have been working on it, and we’ll let you know what happens. It’ll either be fairly soon or it won’t be at all.” Trump remarked.
Reflecting on the war’s devastating impact, Trump lamented the loss of approximately one million lives and the destruction of infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and historic churches.
He underscored his proactive approach by mentioning successful discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to initiate the peace process.
Looking ahead, Trump announced an upcoming meeting with President Zelensky at the White House to sign a historic agreement.
This pact will position the United States as a key partner in developing Ukraine’s mineral resources, including rare earth elements, oil, and natural gas.
Trump expressed confidence that this collaboration would significantly benefit Ukraine’s economy and contribute to its post-war recovery.
In his remarks, Trump reiterated his belief that the conflict could have been averted under his leadership, suggesting that a different approach might have prevented the escalation.
He remains committed to facilitating a resolution that not only ends hostilities but also lays the groundwork for a prosperous and stable Ukraine.
