Baier Confronts Tom Cotton Over Tucker Carlson’s Allegations He Blocked Release of JFK Files

During a recent interview on Fox News, Bret Baier reportedly confronted Senator Tom Cotton about accusations made by former host Tucker Carlson. Carlson claimed that Cotton had been obstructing the release of documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Baier brought up Carlson’s remarks, referencing an article where Carlson alleged that Cotton prevented a key intelligence appointment to hinder the full disclosure of these classified files.

In response, Cotton dismissed the claims, stating they were “completely false.” He expressed his openness to releasing the JFK files and noted that Carlson could have reached out to him directly for clarification.

“It’s false. Completely false. I have no problem releasing the JFK files. Tucker could have called or texted me. He has texted me multiple times in recent weeks. Had he asked me, I would have told him that.” Cotton said.

Cotton emphasized that he has never communicated with former President Trump or any officials regarding the JFK documents, nor has he influenced any personnel decisions based on their stance on those files.

The senator expressed confidence in individuals involved in the declassification process, including Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard, asserting that they would follow Trump’s directives regarding the release of the files.

“I’ve never spoken to President Trump or any of his associates or administration officials about the JFK files. I’ve never objected to someone taking office because of their position on the JFK files. I have to say, I have complete faith in Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, John Ratcliffe, and Tulsi Gabbard to carry out President Trump’s directive on the JFK files. I’m a little surprised that Tucker Carlson apparently doesn’t have faith in those four people, all of them I think he knows and personally respects, that they’re gonna carry out President Trump’s directive.” Cotton said.

Cotton clarified that he was not privy to the contents of the JFK files, which he understood to number around 3,000 documents currently undergoing a review by various government agencies.

He concluded by reiterating his belief in the capability of those tasked with handling the JFK documents and stated that he had no issues with their release as deemed appropriate.

The exchange highlights the ongoing tensions and controversies surrounding the JFK files while also showcasing Cotton’s efforts to distance himself from Carlson’s accusations.
