Fox Business anchor Dagen McDowell reportedly recently criticized the White House for ignoring her requests to discuss the state of the economy amid ongoing market struggles.
During a segment on “The Big Money Show,” McDowell expressed her frustration that officials, particularly Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, have declined to engage with her program while opting to appear on other networks.
McDowell labeled the lack of communication as “shameful,” pointing out that Bessent has been willing to speak on lower-rated shows but has not responded to inquiries from her team.
She emphasized her prior relationship with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, noting that she had co-hosted with him in the past, which makes the current situation even more disappointing.
While Charles Gasparino acknowledged that Bessent had recently spoken with another Fox Business anchor, Larry Kudlow, McDowell maintained that this was insufficient.
She demanded more accountability from the Treasury Department, urging them to respond to her and her colleagues’ outreach.
“The people who work for the Treasury secretaries need to answer a text message,” she asserted, vowing to expose any shortcomings in communication.
McDowell’s comments come at a time when economic issues are front and center in public discourse, particularly in light of President Trump’s tariffs affecting Canada and Mexico.
Her determination to “air dirty laundry” reflects the broader tensions between some conservative media personalities and government officials, especially regarding transparency and responsiveness.
As the economy continues to face challenges, McDowell’s call for better engagement from the White House highlights the importance of communication between the government and media in informing the public about critical economic issues.
